BUILDING USE POLICY

 CHURCH OF ST JOHN-DARWIN – BUILDING & GROUNDS

ST. JOHN’S CATHOLIC EDUCATION CENTER -- BUILDING & GROUNDS

Guidelines for use by parishioners and the general public. (A “parishioner” is defined as: a registered member of St. John’s Parish)

1. ALL events involving more than 50 people must provide a Certificate of Insurance naming the parish as an “Additional Insured” (events with less than 50 people do not require insurance). This document is to be submitted to the parish office at least 3 weeks before the event. Many home owner’s insurance companies will issue a “rider”.  If a group or individual does not have an insurance policy to cover the event, Special Events Coverage may be purchased through the Diocese of New Ulm for $100.00.

2. Damage deposits will be collected in advance. This will be returned within two weeks after the event if no damage has occurred. Using parties are responsible for the clean-up of all the premises (inside & outside) Using parties are responsible for all damages, including any that may exceed the damage deposit amount.  FULL PAYMENT OF DAMAGE DEPOSIT ANDRENTAL DUE IN ADVANCE IN THE FORM OF 1 CHECK.

3. No decorations, posters, charts, pictures, etc. shall be used which willdamage walls or furniture. Please do not remove religious, environmental orseasonal decorations from the walls or their location. No tape on the carpet.If the church environment is disturbed in any way, the deposit will not bereturned.4. Smoking will not be permitted anywhere in the building.

 

5. Alcoholic beverage consumption will not be allowed except for wine, andthen it is expected that the wine will be served with food. If wine is served,user must provide proof of Insurance coverage regardless of the number of people attending the event.

6. Some restrictions may apply to uses that would be contrary to our Catholic beliefs and teachings of our church.

 

7. Please pick up and return the key @ the parish office during office hours, Tues. & Wed. from 9:OOam.-4:OOpm. or Thurs. from 8:30am.- 4:00pm.

 

8. Only colorless drinks (ex. Lemonade & Apple — NOT GRAPE OR CHERRY, Etc.) should be used. Please clean up any spills on the carpet promptly &effectively.

 

9. Two people are needed to set up tables so as to eliminate the possibility of any marking on the carpeting due to dragging tables across it. Please put tables & chairs that are used back exactly as they were.  There is a diagram posted on the office window.

 

10. Children age 12 & under are to be supervised.

 

11 Please lock those rooms that are not being used to help prevent the cost of additional janitorial work. The building is to be left in a neat and orderly condition. The cost of unusual cleanup will be deducted from the damage deposit.

 

12. Fee Schedules  Please call the Parish center 320-693-9496 for current fees.

13. The person signing the contract accepts responsibility for proper care of

the facility.

 

PLEASE BE SURE YOU HAVE DONE THE FOLLOWING BEFORE LEAVING:

Sweep and scrub the floors & vacuum the carpeted areas.

Set tables & chairs exactly as they were when you arrived.

Make sure lights in the bathrooms are OFF & doors are propped OPEN.

Make sure the water is OFF in the bathrooms & kitchen.

Make sure the lights in all the rooms & ceiling fans in the main area are OFF.

Take garbage outside to the dumpster.

Make sure all doors are secured & locked.
